is it yellow pages time for you?

A few of my clients have asked me what to do with respect to their Yellow Pages and Yell.Com advertising as it's due for renewal. 

First of all establish the following:

  1. What data have you got to show the number and type of enquiries you've had during the last 12 months?
  2. What type of enquiries did you receive?
  3. Where you able to convert the enquiries to sales - if not this may be due to a mismatch of the perception of your offering, where it was positioned and/or copywriting v the reality of your offering. It could also be a result of poor call/contact handling
  4. Did the resulting business more than pay for the advertising? Consider customer lifetime value
  5. Do you believe that the amount paid for the advertising is the best use of your marketing spend; or are there better alternatives?
  6. To help evaluate no 5 consider your customer profile and their research and purchasing habits
